For 75 years, we have successfully supplied cement and asphalt plants, building, civil engineering, and road construction companies across all of Europe’s river and road networks – securely and reliably straight to your door. Our Alpine Moraine high-grade chippings, gravel, and sand from the Upper Rhine fulfils every requirement. Standard products, special mixtures on customer request, and all common norms are available in bulk for direct delivery or pick-up.
Upper Rhine Gravel is a naturally formed round grain material (primary raw material) and withstands the highest mechanical, physical and chemical stresses.
High-grade chippings are a mechanically double-crushed bulk material (primary raw material) made of natural round grain material with excellent technical properties.

In 1948, Heinz Alfs loaded a ship with gravel for the first time and dispatched it to Antwerp. This laid the foundation for the family business, which the third generation successfully runs today.
Demand grew steadily, and so did the number of deliveries, predominantly to destinations in Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands. Trans-Splitt AG (today ALFS AG) was founded in Switzerland in 1964 as a shipping company to secure the transport of gravel and clippings. ALFS AG is now an independent company based in Bottmingen (near Basel, Switzerland) and responsible for the trade and transport of all construction aggregates on the Upper Rhine.
